RALSTON, NE. – The Tri-City Storm defeated the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 4-1 Sunday evening at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena (Formerly Ralston Arena). Tri-City won its sixth consecutive game and posted a two-game weekend sweep over Fargo and Omaha. Aiden Dubinsky, Mitchell Miller, Kieran Cebrian, and Cole O’Hara netted goals for the Storm in the victory. Arsenii Sergeev notched his league-leading 20th win of the season in goal for the Storm. Tri-City improved to 25-4-1-0 in the victory and remains the top team in the league standings.
Aiden Dubinsky scored his third goal of the season just over five minutes in Sunday’s 1st period to give the Storm a 1-0 lead in the game. Dubinsky’s goal was netted at 5:06 of the period and was assisted by Gavin Brindley and Lleyton Roed. Brindley’s assist was his 10th of the year, and Roed notched his ninth assist of the season on the scoring play. The Storm outshot the Lancers 13-5 in the 1st period and carried a one-goal lead into the 2nd period.
Omaha’s only goal of the game was netted by Morgan Winters at 4:21 of the 2nd period. Winters’ seventh goal of the season tied the game at 1-1. The goal was assisted by Chris Hedden. Mitchell Miller scored his 13th goal of the season at 7:34 of the 2nd period to give Tri-City a 2-1 lead in the game. Miller’s goal was notched on the powerplay and was assisted by Jeremy Wilmer and Ilya Nikolaev. Wilmer’s assist was his first of the game and team-leading 28th of the season. Nikolaev recorded his first assist of the game and 19th assist of the year on the scoring play. A goal scored by Kieran Cebrian at 10:50 of the period gave Tri-City a two-goal lead in the game. Cebrian’s goal was his seventh of the season and was assisted by Mitchell Miller and Jeremy Wilmer. Miller’s assist was his 20th of the year. Wilmer recorded his second assist of the game and 29th assist of the season on the scoring play. Tri-City outshot Omaha 9-6 in the 2nd period and carried a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period.
Cole O’Hara recorded his team-leading 14th goal of the season at 5:54 of Sunday’s 3rd period to give the Storm a 4-1 lead over the Lancers. Jeremy Wilmer registered his third assist of the game and team-leading 30th assist of the season on the scoring play. Ilya Nikolaev also notched his second assist of the night and 20th assist of the year on the play. Arsenii Sergeev was given a match penalty for head contact at 6:46 of the 3rd period following an altercation in the goal crease. Michael Sochan entered the game for the Storm and turned aside all five shots faced in the remaining 13:14 of game time. Sochan’s debut in net for the Storm began with nearly two minutes of a five on three penalty kill. Tri-City successfully killed off the penalty and finished the game four for four on the penalty kill. Sergeev was the goaltender of record and improved to 20-3-0-0 this season in net for the Storm. Kevin Pasche made 22 saves on 26 shots and recorded the loss in goal for the Lancers.
Tri-City hits the ice again on Friday, January 21st, in a road game against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop for the game is set for 7:05pm CT.
