Loomis looks to take on the 2024 track and field season with another large, talented group

Loomis, Neb. – What can anyone say about the Loomis track and field team that hasn’t already been said about their other athletic programs this year? The Wolves had a strong season last year, they have huge participation numbers again, they don’t look to see any drop-off this season… It’s the same story with each athletic preview, and that is a good thing!

The Loomis community continues to witness full rosters and well above-average success. The 2024 Wolf track and field season should be no different. At 40 student-athletes they’ve already checked the “full roster” box. All that waits is for them to see another season filled with top finishes in the team standings, a slew of state qualifiers, and the strong possibility of a handful of state medalists this May.

The only thing that isn’t ordinary is Tye Spies taking the head coaching reins. Coach Spies has led the Loomis football team to the playoffs, and he now looks to help the track and field team enjoy some more postseason prosperity.

This year’s squad will see a good number of returning state qualifiers and medalists. They will take that experience and add even more depth with a strong freshmen class. The Wolves know what they have, and they’re ready for 2024.

Head coach Tye Spies offers his thoughts on the 2024 track and field season.

Loomis will begin their season by travelling to fellow FKC member Wilcox-Hildreth on Friday, March 22.
