Lexington soccer splits with North Platte

Lexington-The Lexington boys improved to 3-4 on the season with a 2-0 win over North Platte. Lexington scored once in the first half and once in the second to continue their winning ways against the Bulldogs. Lexington’s goals came from Jorge Zamora off an assist from Fernando Casillas in the 29th minute. Then Naelson Garcia scored from top of the box in the 44th minute. Lexington keeper Sergio Loarca picked up the shutout as he faced just five shots. North Platte has still yet to score this season and is now 0-4 on the year.

In the girls game, North Platte dominated possession and eventually pulled away from Lexington 5-0. The Bulldogs outshot Lexington 9-3 in the first half but were unable to score. The first 10 minutes of the second half were also scoreless before North Platte finally broke through in the 50th minute with a goal from Abby Kaminski. The Bulldogs then put the game away with goals from Briley Haneborg in the 57th minute, Elly Meduna in the 64th, Molly Jorgensen in the 73rd, and Jana Bourgeois in the 76th. North Platte improved to 2-4 on the year, Lexington is now 2-3. Both the Minutemaids and the Minutemen will host Lincoln Northwest on Tuesday April 2nd.
