Northeast Baseball spanks Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College baseball team traveled to Estherville, Iowa Wednesday for a matchup with Iowa Lakes Community College. The Hawks had everything working in the showdown and topped the Lakers by a final score of 22-0.

Northeast (34-19, 21-9 ICCAC) was dominant in all facets throughout the ballgame as starter Nick Vilims (Evergreen, Colo.), Tanner Johnson (Kearney, Neb.), Greysen Strauss (Lexington, Neb.) and Connor Cholez (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) all combined to allow just two hits on the mound. Jack Borgman (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded five RBIs on three hits while Brice Wallar (Papillion, Neb.) and Rusty Wortman (Gretna, Neb.) both blasted home runs in the contest. Kutty George (Omaha, Neb.) also picked up his first-career hit Wednesday as the Hawks will now shift their focus to the last weekend of the regular season.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on the huge day from his squad Wednesday:

“Today was fun!” Clapp said. “Got a lot of guys in and they all got to contribute. The pitchers threw strikes and shut them down! Just a good day all around.”

Clapp on his message to his group entering the final weekend of the regular season:

“We will get back to ready to practice tomorrow and will be ready for a fun finish with Iowa Western,” Clapp said.

The Hawks will begin their final series of the regular season against NJCAA DI No. 4 Iowa Western Community College at 4 p.m. Friday in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
