The West Point City Council met virtually on Zoom Tuesday night. Engineer John Zwingman provided a Water Treatment Plant and Water Main Project Update to the Council.
Zwingman also shared some Manganese and Iron Numbers.
Zwingman says one issue is theyre using more chlorine than they had initially calculated.
The City flushed the mains at the end of October. Zwingman shares some manganese and iron figures from tests out in the system taken from random homes or some random locations.
Also at the meeting, the city decided to go with Rutjens Constructions bid of $111,229 for Highway 275 Utility Improvements.
The council also approved a request from Skywave for the placement of wireless equipment on the City Water Tower by a 4-3 vote. Council members Ryan Penrose, Emma Stokely, and Rusty Smith voted yes with council members Tom Swenson, Marc Buse, and Jerry Hugo opposing. Mayor Bruce Schlecht had the final say and voted yes on the one-year agreement for $1,200 with a renewal option. This came after a 3-year agreement at $1,200 a year, and two 2-year agreements at $1,200 a year were shot down by Mayor Schlecht following tie votes of 3-3 with all council members voting the same way they did for the agreement that was approved.
Also at Tuesday nights meeting, the Council voted to implement an amendment to the West Point Economic Development Program approved by the Qualified Electors at the General Election.
