Ranchers and cattle producers keen on staying ahead with the latest research in range livestock production from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln are invited to sign up for the 2024 Nebraska Ranch Practicum, organized by Nebraska Extension.

The practicum spans eight sessions spread across three seasons, covering the entire production cycle of livestock and forage resources. Participants will delve into various topics, including leveraging decision support tools for management and marketing assessments, plant identification, range condition and grazing tactics, wildlife management, assessing cow body condition scores, and beef cattle production systems.

Scheduled on June 4 and 5, July 10, September 4 and 5, and November 7, 2024; and January 7 and 8, 2025, the practicum kicks off and concludes with classroom sessions in North Platte. The bulk of the program will be held at the University of Nebraska’s Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory, a fully functional ranch equipped with top-notch educational and research facilities, near Whitman.

A registration fee of $675 is applicable, with an additional $350 for a spouse. This fee covers educational materials, midday meals, and breaks. Participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation arrangements. Importantly, the practicum is eligible for college credits or continuing education credits.

To secure a spot, interested individuals must submit a completed application along with the registration fee by May 3.
