LEXINGTON, NE – Plum Creek Community Players (PCCP) announce auditions for their Lexington 150th celebration melodrama are set for May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Lexington Public Library. Directors Jo Keim and Cyndi Smith note 20 cast members will be needed with 13 female and seven male parts available for ages high school on up.

“We will also need some extras to serve as townspeople and can use four or five grade school age students from fourth through sixth grades and about four additional adults,” said the directors.

The melodrama is set in the mythical town of Cooked Goose, Arizona, with action taking place in the lobby of the Dew Drop Inn. The Paper Bag Bandit, who until now has only robbed folks outside of town, conducts a daring daytime heist in town. Or was the robbery truly committed by the Paper Bag Bandit?

In addition to the cast, PCCP is also looking for persons with basic construction skills to help build a simple, portable set to go on the stage at the Veteran’s Memorial Pavilion, as well as backstage helpers to move props, assist with costumes and changing microphones. Sound and lighting assistance would also be appreciated. If interested in any of these behind and before the scene spots, contact Jo Keim at 308-320-4549

A read through is set for May 14 with practices every Tuesday and Thursday evening from May 21 through the performances. The public is invited to join in the fun of an old-fashioned melodrama on June 28 at 7 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. June 30. Performances and most practices will be at the Veteran’s Pavilion in Kirkpatrick Memorial Park.
