A Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment for Doris Jean (Humes) Mays will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Orleans Cemetery, Orleans, Nebraska, with Pastor Lana Dake officiating.
Doris Jean (Humes) Mays, celebrated her 90th birthday in Lincoln Nebraska. On December 18, 2023, Doris passed away peacefully at home, with her children by her side.
Doris was born on February 11, 1933, in Orleans, one of five children, born to Ernest and Ruth (Miller) Humes. She was a graduate of Orleans High School, with the class of 1951.
Doris was united in marriage to Melvin LaVerne Mays on Jan 2, 1952 and to their union five children were born: Michael, Debbie, Lisa, Susan, and Jeff.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin LaVerne Mays; one son, Jeffery Lynn Mays; a brother: Leroy Humes; sisters: Darlene Walton; Dorothy Scarrow; and Darrol Lund.
Doris leaves to mourn her passing, a son: Michael and his wife Deb Holsing-Mays of Cortland Nebraska; three daughters: Debra Mays-Abbey and husband, Randy Abbey of Keller Texas; Lisa Mays-Schultz and husband, Peter Schultz of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Susan Mays of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
