Broken Bow, Neb. — Broken Bow City Offices remained closed Friday, May 3, due to flooding in the Municipal Building and will remain closed Monday, May 6.

City Administrator David Schmidt said Friday, “The phone system is slated for repairs on Monday. Fingers crossed, if they are able to bring that system back online, we will be open Tuesday morning, May 7th, at 8:00 A.M. If the phone system cannot be repaired on Monday, we may be forced to reassess our abilities to operate, at that time.”

Schmidt said previously, “City phone systems are down. Please continue to utilize Custer County Dispatch for all utility related emergencies at 308-872-6424. Late fees will not be assessed for any utility bills this month, if paid on or before “shut-off day,” Thursday, May 30th. Utility bills may still be placed in the overnight drop box, located on the front of the building, or paid online.”

Schmidt said, “The outpouring of support that we have received is greatly appreciated and is a steadfast reminder of why we live where we live. Thank you all for your continued patience as we mitigate this situation and move forward as fast as possible.”
