Kearney Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire Wednesday Morning

KEARNEY, NE – The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to a structure fire at 90 Central Avenue in Kearney Wednesday morning.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke exiting the structure. Crews pulled hose lines and applied water to the fire and were able to quickly contain the fire and conduct a search of the residence.

Upon completion of the primary search, no occupants were found inside. The home sustained extensive fire damage in two rooms and heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the structure. KVFD was assisted by Good Samaritan EMS and the Kearney Police Department.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the origin of the fire. The cause is still under investigation, but the fire is believed to be accidental in nature.
