WSC Men and Women on the road this weekend

After spending the last two weeks at home in Rice Auditorium, the Wayne State men’s basketball team is now on the road for two straight weeks starting this weekend with cross division games at Minnesota Duluth Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at St. Cloud State in a 3:30 p.m. contest.  WSC is one of four teams tied for first in the NSIC South (9-5) and sits 14-6 overall.  UMD is also 14-6 and has a 10-4 league mark to sit third in the NSIC North Division.  SCSU starts the weekend with records of 7-12 and 4-10 in the NSIC North (7th).  Last season UMD won in Wayne over WSC 91-83.  The ‘Cats beat St. Cloud State in the regular season in Wayne but then lost to the Huskies one month later 100-98 in overtime in the first round of the NSIC Tournament in Wayne.

The Wayne State College women’s basketball will face the top two teams from the NSIC North Division on the road this weekend when they travel to #10 Minnesota Duluth (17-2, 14-0 NSIC) Friday at 7:30 p.m. and St. Cloud State (14-4, 11-3 NSIC) Saturday at 5:30 p.m. WSC enters the weekend 10-8 on the year with a 6-8 record in the NSIC. Last weekend the Wildcats split the home series first defeating Bemidji State 71-55 then falling to Minnesota Crookston 74-72. The Wildcats are currently in fourth place in the NSIC South Division while the UMD Bulldogs are first in the NSIC North Divison and the St. Cloud State Huskies are second in the North Division.  Last season, Minnesota Duluth defeated Wayne State 69-65 while St. Cloud State also defeated the Wildcats 72-64 in Wayne.
