The world’s most expensive cow ever sold at auction has a price tag of $4 million, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
The cow, Viatina-19, is in Brazil. The Associated Press said her massive, snow-white body is watched over by security cameras, a veterinarian and an armed guard.
The cow’s astonishing price is due to her rapid muscle growth, high fertility, and, most significantly, her ability to pass these traits to her offspring.
Producers looking to enhance their livestock’s genetics spend about $250,000 to collect Viatina-19’s egg cells.
The new record price of $4 million is three times higher than the previous record holder’s price.
