Williams collects NSAA Pitcher of the Week honors

BISMARCK, N.D. — Bellevue University’s Teron Williams (Belton, Mo.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the NSAA office on Monday afternoon.

The junior right-hander earned the award after pick up a pair of wins in relief over the weekend to help the Bruins clinch the 2024 NSAA Regular Season Championship.

In the series opener, Williams came in a tie game with two runners aboard in the seventh inning. He struck out the conference’s second-leading hitter Ryan McDaniel before inducing a ground ball to keep the game tied, allowing the Bruins to walk off the Trojans in the bottom of the seventh.

The series finale saw him again enter in a tight spot, runners on the corners with two outs in the eighth. He got a fly ball to escape trouble and worked around a two-out error in the ninth that scored an unearned run, stranding the tying run at third to lock down BU’s fifth-straight regular season title.

For the season, Williams is 3-0 with a 0.66 ERA and one save. He has logged 0.59 WHIP and opponents are hitting a meager .152 against him with 11 strikeouts against just one walk across 13.2 innings of work. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 12 innings of work which includes nine scoreless appearances.

The 16th-ranked Bruins close out the regular season this weekend by entertaining Viterbo University for a four-game series from John Stella Field at Brown Park, beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday.
