The West Point Optimist Club held their annual recognition on Wednesday of students from GACC and West Point-Beemer that competed in the essay contest. Juniors from both high schools completed essays on the topic of “Optimism: How It Connects Us”. The essays are judged blind by a three judge panel.

The top ten were invited to lunch at the Pizza Ranch. The top ten received movie passes. The top three receive a cash prize from the Club and from Ann Beckenhauer. The top three read their essays. Third place was Chase Smith of GACC, second Mia Hunke of West Point-Beemer, and first Campbell Snodgrass of West Point-Beemer. Campbell’s essay was forwarded on to the state competition.
