Wayne State’s Trevor Marshall named NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week

Wayne, Neb. — Wayne State junior punter Trevor Marshall was named Northern Sun Conference Special Teams Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota following his performance in Saturday’s 28-21 road win at Winona State.

A 6-2, 220-pound junior from Gretna (Gretna HS), averaged 44.7 yards on seven punts and 56.4 yards on five kickoffs.  He had three punts over 50 yards that included a game-high 65-yard punt and one inside the 20-yard line.  Marshall also had one touchback on five kickoffs.

For the season, Marshall ranks second in the NSIC in punt average at 43.2 on 23 punts with just one touchback, four fair catches and a league-high eight punts over 50 yards with another five punts inside-the-20-yard line, which ranks second in the NSIC.  Marshall’s punting has also led Wayne State to lead the NSIC in net punting average at 40.1 yards per punt. 

Wayne State, 3-1 on the season (2-1 NSIC), is idle this week and returns to play on Saturday, October 5th hosting Minot State at 1 p.m. in the annual Homecoming Game at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
