Wayne State’s Taya Beller named NSIC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Wayne, Neb. — Wayne State College middle/rightside hitter Taya Beller was announced Monday afternoon as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota.  It’s the second time this season that Beller has been honored by the league office.

A 6-2 junior from Lindsay (Humphrey HS), Beller recorded 13 kills and a .481 hitting percentage in Friday’s 3-0 sweep over #1 Concordia-St. Paul.  She did not record an attack error in 27 attempts and also produced a team-high six blocks in the victory.  Beller led the NSIC with 5.83 points per set.

For the season, Beller leads the NSIC in hitting percentage (.391) and blocks per set (1.29), ranks second in kills per set (4.00) and is second in points per set at 5.10.

 Wayne State, ranked third in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 8-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NSIC and will host Chadron State Tuesday evening in a non-conference match at Rice Auditorium starting at 6 p.m.
