MALIBU, Calif. – Omaha volleyball was unable to finish-off the Pepperdine Waves Saturday evening at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu as the Waves overcame a two-set deficit to defeat the Mavericks 3-2 to close the Pepperdine Asics Classic.

The Mavericks were off to a blazing start win the first two sets 25-23 and 25-19 with an average team kill percentage of nearly 40 percent in the opening two sets. Pepperdine would claw back to win the third and fourth frames 25-15 and 25-20 to force a deciding set, the Mavericks’ fourth five-set match of the season and second in as many days.

Kali Jurgensmeier and McKenna Ruch combined for 26 kills while Shayla McCormick contributed 18 digs in the match. Jurgensmeier added 8.0 blocks and finished her night with a team-high 22.0 points.
