The Omaha Mavericks took down the #7 Missouri Tigers 3-1 in their opening game of the NCAA Columbia Regional. The Mavericks were boosted to victory with a pair of home runs.
The Mavericks improved to a 42-13 overall record and are now 6-4 against Power 5 opponents.
Omaha is set to play Washington tomorrow May, 18 at 2 p.m.

How It Happened
– Sydney Thomason in the three-hole during her first at-bat hit one to deep center field giving Omaha the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
– Omaha played a great defensive game keeping the Tigers without a hit until the third inning.
– In the bottom of the third, Marra Cramer made an out on a pop fly then threw the runner out at home to keep the Tigers scoreless.
– With runners on first and third in the fourth, Kamryn Meyer retired back-to-back batters to shut Mizzou down.
– In the bottom of the sixth Mizzou tied it up at one with a sacrifice fly to left field.
– Cramer robbed the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh with a jumping catch at the center field wall.
– Tied at one, the game went into extra innings.
– Ava Rongisch buried a two-run homer to center field in the top of the ninth to put Omaha back on top 3-1.
– The Mavericks closed the game with a fly out to center field, a ground out to Meyer, and a pop-up to Jaelle Johnson.
Game Notes
– Sydney Thomason went 1-3 with one run and one RBI.
– Rongisch went 1-4 with one run and two RBIs.
– Lynsey Tucker added a team-high three assists.
– Meyer pitched the complete nine innings, making her season record 26-4. Meyer threw six strikeouts and only allowed one run and four hits
