UNO Softball downs North Dakota State in both games of Doubleheader

Omaha, Neb.- The Omaha Mavericks picked up two wins against the North Dakota State Bison on the opening day of their first conference series with an 11-3 win in game one and a 2-1 win in game two. Kamryn Meyer came in as a relief pitcher in game two where she earned her 900th career strikeout. 

The Mavericks improve to a 24-7 overall record on the campaign. With 13 straight wins, the Mavericks have tied the program’s longest Division 1 era win streak and are tied for the second-longest current win streak in the country. 

Game One: Omaha 11, North Dakota State 3 (5 inn.)
How It Happened

    – NDSU got on the board first in the top of the second with a two-run homer. 
    – Marra Cramer got the Mavericks on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI triple to the right-center wall. 
    – Cramer tied the game at two after scoring a run from third on Lynsey Tucker’s RBI double. 
    – In the bottom of the third, Olivia Aden took the lead for Omaha with a two-RBI single that scored Sammy Schmidt and Sydney Ross to make it 4-2.
    – The Mavericks put up five runs in the bottom of the fourth. The scoring started with a single by Ava Rongisch that allowed Tucker to score. 
    – Ross put the Mavericks up 7-2 with a two-run RBI double. As Rongisch scored on her slide into the plate where the catcher missed the tag on her backdoor slide. 
    – Jaelle Johnson had her first career triple where she recorded two RBIs that put the Mavericks up 9-2 in the bottom of the fourth. 
    – NDSU scored their third run in the top of the fifth with an RBI single. 
    – Omaha hit the 11-run mark in the bottom of the fifth to run-rule the Bison with an RBI single by Sydney Thomason and a sacrifice fly by Rongisch. 

Game Notes
    – Kamryn Meyer picked up her 12th win of the season.  In the five innings pitched, she threw six strikeouts and only allowed one walk. 
    – Rongisch and Thomason both went 2-for-2 at the plate.
    – Aden, Johnson, Ross, and Rongisch all recorded two RBIs.
    – Tucker, Ross, and Schmidt each recorded two runs. 
    – Johnson and Ross had a team-high six putouts. 

Game One: Omaha 2, North Dakota State 1 
How It Happened

    – The Mavericks got on the board first in game two with a sacrifice fly to left field to score in Tucker and put Omaha up 1-0 in the bottom of the third. 
    – Aden had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to put Omaha up 2-0.
    – NDSU got on the board in the top of the seventh with an RBI single. With runners on second and third, Meyer stepped in for the save and slammed the door on the game with three straight strikeouts.

Game Notes
    – Sydney Nuismer picked up her eighth win of the season. In six innings pitched she threw one strikeout and only allowed four hits. 
    – Meyer earned her third save with the three strikeouts thrown. The final K of the game marked her 900th career strikeout. 
    – Lynsey Tucker went 2-for-2 at-bat and scored one run. 
    – Aden and Rongisch both notched their third RBI of the day. 
    – Alex Olson had a team-high nine putouts. 
    – Tucker, Aden, and Nuismer each had three assists.
