URBANDALE, Iowa (October 27, 2023)– The American Carbon Alliance (ACA) announced today it has continued to add important members to the organization, including the U.S. Grains Council. Together these organizations will work to bring attention to the benefits that carbon capture technology will have throughout the world.

“When it comes to developing new markets and enabling trade for American grains and biofuels, the U.S. Grains Council is one of the most effective organizations in the country,” said Tom Buis, CEO of the American Carbon Alliance. “We’re proud to add them to our alliance and look forward to working with them to increase the demand for bioethanol through carbon capture technologies.”

The U.S. Grains Council educates and supports free and fair trade worldwide, developing export markets for biofuels and American grains such as barley, corn, and sorghum. The Council is made up of more than 140 organizations, including state checkoff boards, agribusiness, and producer groups.

“There is no question that biofuels, like corn-based bioethanol, play a significant role in decarbonizing transportation and bolstering fuel security,” said Mackenzie Boubin, USGC director of global ethanol export development. “Carbon capture and sequestration brings economic benefits for American farmers and environmental benefits for the globe. We appreciate the American Carbon Alliance’s work on educating the public on the significance of this new technology and the impact CCS will have on corn-based bioethanol’s ability to compete within emerging global low-carbon programs and look forward to working with them.”

The ACA coalition is expanding and growing every day. Newly added organizations to the coalition include: the National Corn Growers Association, Growth Energy, Renewable Fuels Association, the American Coalition for Ethanol, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, the Iowa Corn Growers Association, the Renew Kansas Biofuels Association, and the North and South Dakota Ethanol Producers Associations.
