September 24th, 2024 | Joel Janecek

At around 9:25 this morning, Schuyler Community Schools reported that all schools were in Secure Mode for the time being.

According to a post on the school’s website, there was a high school student that had left home and may have been armed. The police are working on locating the individual.

Schuyler Community Schools said there was no indication that the student threatened to harm anyone.

School officials said that precautions were being taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

No one is being allowed in or out of any building at Schuyler Community Schools during this time, unless it is through the secured front door and identification is verified.

Schuyler Community Schools made this announcement on their Social Media Page just before 2:45 this afternoon:

“Schuyler Staff and Families,

We will have our usual dismissal today at 3:30. The Schuyler Police and County Sheriff will be present at all schools during this time.  All scheduled events will proceed as scheduled since they are at other schools, all practices will be held inside this afternoon.”
