Wayne State College head baseball coach Alex Koch announced this morning schedule adjustments for this weekend’s Wildcat four-game NSIC series at Minnesota Duluth. Originally schedule for a three-day, four-game series Friday at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at 12 and 2 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. has now been changed to a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday at different locations in Duluth/Superior. Friday’s doubleheader at 12 and 2 p.m. will be played at Wade Stadium in Duluth with Saturday’s 12 and 2 p.m. doubleheader scheduled for Superior High School in nearby Superior, Wisconsin.
The Wildcats enter this weekend’s series at 17-7 overall and first place in the NSIC with a 12-2 league mark. Host Minnesota Duluth is 8-17 overall and 4-12 in NSIC games. Wayne State enjoys a 39-19 advantage in the all-time series against Minnesota Duluth. Last season, WSC swept the Bulldogs in a mid-week doubleheader that was moved to Wayne due to bad weather in Duluth by scores of 22-2 and 9-7. Two years ago in Duluth WSC and UMD split a doubleheader with UMD winning the opener 8-2 followed by a 15-14 Wildcat win in 11 innings.
