NORFOLK – The City of Norfolk would like to inform citizens that Police Chief Don Miller and Captain Chad Reiman have been placed on administrative leave. During this time, it is essential to ensure that all actions and decisions are made in the best interest of the community. In addition, all employees are entitled to due process.
This administrative leave is not disciplinary in nature, nor should it be interpreted as a pre-judgment of any kind. As a matter of policy and to protect the integrity of the City and all parties involved, personnel matters are strictly confidential.
The City remains dedicated to protecting the privacy rights of all employees. Members of the press and public seeking more information are encouraged to direct their inquiries to Norfolk City Administrator Andy Colvin. However, confidentiality of personnel matters limits the information that can be shared and there will be no further comment provided at this time.
Additional updates will be provided by the City in the form of a press release as necessary or appropriate. Our commitment to transparency means we will keep the public informed about any significant developments.

During this period, Police Division operations and services will continue under an interim management structure. Lieutenant Brian Tighe and Captain Mike Bauer will serve as the management team for the Police Division until further notice.
