The Nebraska Soybean Board See For Yourself program is underway in the Pacific Northwest.

This week, Nebraska Soybean Board staff, along with Nebraska soybean farmers and other industry leaders, will tour various facilities and operations that utilize Nebraska soybeans.

Among the tour stops, the 15 attendees will see the Port of Grays Harbor, a seafood processing facility, a recirculating aquaculture facility and the AGP grain terminal.

“The Pacific Northwest (PNW) is a vital hub for soybean exports,” said NSB Executive Director Andy Chvatal. “Currently, 23% of soybean exports are leaving from regions in the PNW.”

Chvatal said most of the PNW soybean exports are bound for China, Japan and Southeast Asia.

While most of the trip is focused on facilities and operations that use soybeans, NSB Director of Education and Outreach Teri Zimmerman said it’s also a great opportunity to see other sectors in the agriculture industry.

“I always think it’s super interesting when farmers that grow different crops or different products can find common ground in those issues of farming,” Zimmerman said. “They really engage in great conversations.”

Attendees include:

  • Luke Cameron – Farmer, Lyons
  • Tom Cameron – Farmer, Lyons
  • James Crook – Farmer, Nebraska City
  • Zach Czarnick – Farmer, Genoa
  • Jordan Emmanuel – Farmer, North Bend
  • Jay Dee Janzen – Farmer, Henderson
