Nebraska and Kansas Ag Land Values

The value of Nebraska’s 2023 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $13.5 billion, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is down 11% from 2022.

The value of corn production is expected to total $8.56 billion, down 13% from the previous
marketing year. Nebraska’s corn price is projected to average $4.95 per bushel, down $1.82 from
the last marketing year.

The value of soybean production is expected to total $3.36 billion, down 14% from the previous
marketing year. Nebraska’s soybean price is projected to average $12.60 per bushel, down $1.60
from the last marketing year.

The value of winter wheat production is expected to total $255 million up 16% from the
previous marketing year. Nebraska’s winter wheat price is projected to average $6.90 per bushel,
down $1.48 from the last marketing year.

The value of alfalfa production is expected to total $578 million, up 11% from the previous
marketing year. Nebraska’s alfalfa price is projected to average $200.00 per ton, down $7.00
from the last marketing year. The value of other hay production is expected to total
$329 million, up 41% from the previous marketing year. Nebraska’s other hay price is projected
to average $135.00 per ton, up $7.00 from the last marketing year.

The value of Kansas’s 2023 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $7.76 billion, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is down 17% from 2022.

The value of corn production is expected to total $3.00 billion, down 16% from the previous
marketing year. Kansas’s corn price is projected to average $4.90 per bushel, down $2.14 from
the last marketing year.

The value of soybean production is expected to total $1.32 billion, down 29% from the previous
marketing year. Kansas’s soybean price is projected to average $12.60 per bushel, down
$1.70 from the last marketing year.

The value of winter wheat production is expected to total $1.51 billion, down 29% from the
previous marketing year. Kansas’s winter wheat price is projected to average $7.50 per bushel,
down $1.21 from the last marketing year.

The value of sorghum production is expected to total $819 million, up 13% from the previous
marketing year. Kansas’s sorghum price is projected to average $8.65 per cwt, down $3.65 from
the last marketing year.

The value of cotton production is expected to total $51.9 million, down 25% from the previous
marketing year. Kansas’s cotton price is projected to average $0.64 per pound, down $0.22 from
the last marketing year.

The value of alfalfa production is expected to total $574 million, up 14% from the previous
marketing year. Kansas’s alfalfa price is projected to average $256.00 per ton, up $11.00 from
the last marketing year. The value of other hay production is expected to total $453 million, up
1% from the previous marketing year. Kansas’s alfalfa price is projected to average $163.00 per
ton, up $24.00 from the last marketing year.
