Morningside Volleyball drops five-setter at Midland

FREMONT, NEB. – Another ultra-competitive Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s volleyball match unfolded tonight at Midland University, as the Mustangs went on the road to face the no. 18 Warriors. Morningside wound up on the short end of the match, falling 3-2 with scores of 29-27, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25, and 15-12.

The five-setter saw neither team hit better than .090, as both sides fired up their blocks. Nienke van Drunen led all players with 11 block assists, while three Warriors had six block assists. Payten LodeSydney Marlow, and Adelyn Harris followed for Morningside with four apiece.

Quinn Groves led all players in the back row with 28 digs. Kyla Dyrstad had 16 and Marlow had 14.

On the attack, Marlow led the way with 15 kills, Claire Wilson had 14, and Kyla Dyrstad had 26 assists. 

The Mustangs are back on the road Saturday, continuing on to No. 4 Concordia in Seward, Neb., getting underway at 3 p.m. after a 1:30 JV contest.
