SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A five-run second inning was not only enough to allow Morningside to recover from an early 4-0 deficit, but would prove to be enough for a win as the Mustangs defeated Waldorf 6-4 in a non-conference nine-inning contest. The win pushes Morningside’s active streak to eight consecutive victories.

Joe Harris, who was called into the contest after the opening frame, collected the win as he went 2.0 innings while allowing just one run. Harris handed off to Tiago Sanchez, who threw 2.2 scoreless with five strikeouts, and Luke Mar went 3.1 innings with four K’s to earn the save.

Giacomo Crosetti hit for two legs of the cycle, collecting the double and triple, driving in a run. Jacob O’Dell drove in two, recording his own three-bagger. Brian GarciaRyan Kiolbassa, and Cade Nolan all drove in runs, while the speedy Conner Maston was able to swipe second as a courtesy runner.

Morningside now returns to conference play, hoping to advance in the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings with four games at league-leading Doane beginning on Friday.
