KAAPA Ethanol Weekly Crop Progress Report

OMAHA (DTN) — U.S. corn planting was estimated at 95% complete, and soybean planting was 87% complete as of Sunday, June 9, according to USDA NASS’ weekly national Crop Progress report released Monday.

In its first condition report of the season for soybeans, USDA NASS rated the crop 72% good to excellent. Corn was rated 74% in good-to-excellent condition down from 75% the previous week.

Corn emerged was estimated at 85%, and soybeans emerged were 70%.

Winter wheat was 89% headed and 12% harvested. Winter wheat conditions were rated 47% good to excellent, down 2 points from 49% the previous week.

Spring wheat was 98% planted, 87% emerged and rated 72% in good-to-excellent condition.

NEBRASKA:

  • For the week ending June 9, 2024, there were 5.3 days
    suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil
    moisture supplies rated 2% very short, 16% short, 71% adequate, and 11% surplus. Subsoil
    moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 18% short, 69% adequate, and 9% surplus.
  • Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 14% fair, 57% good, and
    27% excellent. Corn emerged was 93%, near 96% last year and 92% for the five-year average.
    Soybean condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 19% fair, 60% good, and 19% excellent.
    Soybeans planted was 96%, near 97% last year and 94% average. Emerged was 82%, behind
    91% last year, but near 81% average.
    Winter wheat condition rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 18% fair, 40% good, and 32% excellent.
    Winter wheat headed was 93%, ahead of 80% last year and 77% average.
    Sorghum condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 19% fair, 74% good, and 6% excellent.
    Sorghum planted was 75%, near 72% last year and 77% average.
    Oats condition rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 12% fair, 65% good, and 20% excellent. Oats
    headed was 54%, well ahead of 32% last year, and ahead of 38% average.
    Dry edible beans planted was 77%, well ahead of 44% last year. Emerged was 7%, behind 18%
    last year.
  • Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 25%
    fair, 50% good, and 15% excellent.

KANSAS:

  • For the week ending June 9, 2024, there were 4.5 days
    suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil
    moisture supplies rated 10% very short, 17% short, 61% adequate, and 12% surplus. Subsoil
    moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 25% short, 55% adequate, and 7% surplus.
  • Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 12% very poor, 21% poor, 35% fair, 29%
    good, and 3% excellent. Winter wheat coloring was 90%, well ahead of 59% last year and 62%
    for the five-year average. Mature was 52%, well ahead of 18% last year and 12% average.
    Harvested was 5%, near 1% both last year and average.
    Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 30% fair, 57% good, and 8% excellent. Corn
    planted was 96%, near 95% last year and 94% average. Emerged was 87%, near 83% last year,
    and ahead of 81% average.
    Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 25% fair, 63% good, and 9% excellent.
    Soybeans planted was 78%, behind 86% last year, but ahead of 71% average. Emerged was 60%,
    behind 72% last year, but ahead of 53% average.
    Sorghum condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 43% fair, 49% good, and 4% excellent.
    Sorghum planted was 54%, ahead of 44% both last year and average.
    Cotton condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 27% fair, 49% good, and 19% excellent. Cotton
    planted was 92%, ahead of 78% last year and 87% average. Squaring was 4%, near 7% last year,
    and equal to average.
    Sunflowers planted was 46%, ahead of 29% last year and 41% average.
  • Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 5% very poor, 11% poor, 33% fair, 41% good, and 10% excellent.
