OMAHA (DTN) — U.S. corn planting was estimated at 83% complete, and soybean planting was 68% complete as of Sunday, May 26, according to USDA NASS’ weekly national Crop Progress report released Tuesday.

Corn emerged was estimated at 58%, and soybeans emerged were 39%.

Winter wheat headed was 77%. Winter wheat conditions were rated 48% good to excellent, down 1 point from 49% the previous week.

Spring wheat was 88% planted and 61% emerged.

LINCOLN, Neb. May 28, 2024 – For the week ending May 26, 2024, there were 4.0 days
suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil
moisture supplies rated 2% very short, 13% short, 73% adequate, and 12% surplus. Subsoil
moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 20% short, 66% adequate, and 10% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Corn planted was 91%, near 93% last year and 92% for the five-year
average. Emerged was 61%, behind 75% last year and 68% average.
Soybeans planted was 80%, behind 87% last year, and near 81% average. Emerged was 41%,
well behind 61% last year, and behind 49% average.
Winter wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 24% fair, 51% good, and 20% excellent.
Winter wheat headed was 52%, well ahead of 31% both last year and average.
Sorghum planted was 31%, equal to last year, and behind 39% average.
Oats condition rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 42% fair, 44% good, and 11% excellent. Oats
emerged was 93%, equal to last year, and near 90% average. Headed was 16%, ahead of 3% last
year and 6% average.
Dry edible beans planted was 10%, equal to last year.

Pasture and Range Report: Pasture and range conditions rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 32%
fair, 51% good, and 12% excellent.

MANHATTAN, Kan. May 28, 2024 – For the week ending May 26, 2024, there were 5.0 days
suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil
moisture supplies rated 18% very short, 20% short, 54% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil
moisture supplies rated 20% very short, 27% short, 49% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Field Crops Report: Winter wheat condition rated 11% very poor, 21% poor, 36% fair, 29%
good, and 3% excellent. Winter wheat headed was 94%, ahead of 81% last year and 86% for the
five-year average. Coloring was 53%. Mature was 2%.
Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 6% poor, 32% fair, 54% good, and 7% excellent. Corn
planted was 85%, ahead of 79% last year and 80% average. Emerged was 68%, ahead of 63%
last year and 58% average.
Soybeans planted was 55%, behind 66% last year, but ahead of 50% average. Emerged was 34%,
behind 42% last year, but near 30% average.
Sorghum planted was 24%, ahead of 19% last year and 14% average.
Cotton condition rated 0% very poor, 3% poor, 33% fair, 38% good, and 26% excellent. Cotton
planted was 72%, ahead of 54% last year and 53% average.
Sunflowers planted was 16%, ahead of 5% last year, and near 13% average.
