DES MOINES, Iowa — Creighton Softball suffered an 8-0 road loss at Drake on Wednesday, March 27. With the loss the Bluejays fell to 18-14 on the season, while Drake climbed to 13-13.
Drake scored in four of the six frames as the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the second, added two runs in the third and fourth frames and closed the game in six innings with three runs.
Bluejay senior Cayla Nielsen collected both Creighton hits, singling in the third and doubling in the sixth.
Creighton starter Kenzie Schopfer took the loss (3-6), allowing one run on two hits in 1.1 innings. Drake hurler Molly Hoekstra earned the win (5-1), tossing a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits over six innings.
Creighton has a short turn around time as the Bluejays begin a three-game home series against Georgetown on Thursday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
