Queens, N.Y. — Creighton Baseball suffered a three game sweep at St. John’s as the Bluejays fell 7-1 in the series finale on Saturday, May 4.

The loss moved to 31-14 on the season and 4-10 in BIG EAST action, while St. John’s moved to 31-11-1 overall and 11-4 in conference play.

Building upon the momentum of a walk-offf win in the opening game of the doubleheader, the Red Storm scored teh first five runs in the finale. St. John’s put up on run in the first, two in the third on an RBI walk and a two-run homer both from Marty Higgins. The Red Storm added single runs in the fourth and fifth frames, while Creighton got on the board in the seventh. Nolan Clifford opened the inning with a double and crossed home plate as Ben North reached on a two-out error.

St. John’s starter Mario Pesca earned the win (5-1) with seven innings of one run ball, limiting the Bluejays to two hits and notching seven strikeouts. Creighton starter Shea Wendt took the loss (1-1), allowing three runs on two hits and four walks in three innings.

The Bluejays return to action next weekend as Creighton faces Connecticut in a three-game series beginning on Friday, May 9 at 5:05 p.m.
