Omaha, Neb. — Battling through several delays caused by weather, Creighton Baseball dropped a 4-3 decision to Georgetown on Sunday, April 28 in the second game of the series. The third game was canceled.

Creighton fell to 30-11 on the season and 4-7 in BIG EAST action with the loss, while Georgetown moved to 29-13 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

The Bluejays got out to a 1-0 lead as Hogan Helligso and Cuyler Zukowski singled to put runners at the corners, then Ben North delivered a sac fly to make it 1-0.

Georgetown answered with three runs in the sixth, taking advantage of a couple of defensive mishaps. The Hoyas got two singles to chase starter Eli Nissen, then greeted Shane Curtin with a single to load the bases. The Hoyas scored a pair on fielders choices and another on a wild pitch.

Lightning and rain suspended the game on Saturday in the eighth inning at 4:00 p.m. until Sunday afternoon at 2:44 p.m. Two minutes after play began on Sunday, lightning forced another delay. The game got going once more at 3:48 p.m. In the top of the ninth, the Hoyas tacked on an insurance run in the top ninth taking advantage of an error.

In the bottom of the ninth Creighton pushed across a run as Nolan Sailors laced a one-out single to center, followed by a walk by Teddy Deters. A productive out and an error brought the tying run to third, but the game ended on a fly out to right.

Nissen took the loss (2-2) allowing two runs on four hits over five innings, while Georgetown reliever Cody Jensen moved to 4-3 with two innings of one run ball. Everett Catlett picked up his second save of the season, getting the final five outs for the Hoyas.

Creighton returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 30 in the third game of the season against Nebraska, this one coming at 6:00 p.m. and televised on Nebraska Public Media.
