SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Junior Avery Beller has been named the GPAC / Hauff Mid-America Sports Defender of the Week in Volleyball for Week 2.
Beller is the first Charger to earn GPAC weekly honors since Grace Whitlaw (Sept. 10, 2019).
Beller had a very strong performance as Briar Cliff went 2-2 at the Siouxland Volleyball Invitational (Aug. 30-31). She averaged 7.20 digs per set and pushed her double-digit dig streak to 11 matches.
Beller recorded 20+ digs in the first three matches of the tournament. She collected 44 against Valley City State (Aug. 30). That was the first 40+ dig performance by a Charger in 10 years and is sixth best in school history.
