BISMARCK, N.D. — Sophomore setter Mila Aiwohi and junior outside hitter Eve Fountain were honored today by the North Star Athletic Association as the league office announced this week’s NSAA volleyball honors. Aiwohi was tabbed as the NSAA Setter of the Week, while Fountain garnered NSAA Attacker of the Week accolades for their performances at last week’s GoSarpy.com Classic hosted by Bellevue University.
Aiwohi averaged 5.91 assists per set while helping the Bruins to a 2-1 record on the week, with wins over (RV) Benedictine (Kan.) College and Lindsey Wilson College and a setback to No. 13-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Aiwohi recorded her second double-double of the season with 24 assists and 10 digs in BU’s 3-1 victory over BC. She collected 25 assists and three digs in the four-set win over LWC. She finished the weekend with 16 assists and four digs in the loss to the Eagles. Aiwohi also added a pair of service aces on the week.
Fountain recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the wins over Benedictine and Lindsey Wilson. She was dominant in the win over the Ravens, hitting .514 with 19 kills and just one error in 35 attempts while adding 16 digs and three blocks. In the victory over LWC, Fountain collected 19 kills, 16 digs, and four service aces. She wrapped up the weekend with a nine-kill, eight-dig performance against OKWU.
Fountain currently leads the league with 3.60 kills per set. She is fourth with 68 total digs and 0.30 service aces per set.
Bellevue will head across town this weekend to compete in the College of Saint Mary Tournament on Aug. 30-31 in Omaha, Neb. BU will battle Saint Francis (Ind.) at 10 a.m. on Friday before meeting No. 4-ranked Concordia (Neb.) at 2 p.m. The Bruins will complete the tournament on Saturday with a 9 a.m. match against Mount Mercy.
