Join Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health in celebrating Ag Literacy Week this week, March 18-22, as they share messages from the Telling the Story Project. The goal of agricultural literacy is to help youth become aware of how the agricultural industry works – not just where food comes from, but who grows it, and its impact on society. As an ag safety center, they use Ag Literacy week as an opportunity to share injury prevention messages from ag storytellers.
Telling the Story Project creates injury prevention messages that highlight personal stories and first-hand experiences. The storytellers include farmers, agricultural workers, and family and community members who’ve been impacted by injuries, fatalities, or close calls. Told in their own words, their experiences provide valuable information to learn what went wrong and how to prevent similar incidents. The common thread: “We don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”
Follow along all week as they share daily stories about ag injury prevention on their social media channels.
