The Old West Trail Rodeo is Nebraska’s one and only professional rodeo over the 4th of July holiday. This year the rodeo is celebrating its 78th birthday, making it the third oldest professional rodeo in the state.

Committee member Jody Bass says the rodeo means a great deal to the community of Crawford.

“It brings tourism to our rural community,” says Bass. “The rodeo is full of rich history. It actually started as a fundraiser for our local hospital to fund a facility we use to this day.”

The Old West Trail Rodeo is comprised of two rodeo performances over the 3rd and 4th of July, with performances starting at 8pm nightly.

In addition to two nights of rodeo action, Crawford will also host a plethora of other holiday festivities including a parade, 5k, and activities for all ages at the city park. The Western Wildlife Art Show is held in conjunction with the events at nearby Fort Robinson. The final rodeo performance will conclude with a robust fireworks show, capping off another year of celebration.
