22-Year-Old Pierce Man Dies After Jumping from Moving Vehicle

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says a Pierce man has died after jumping from a moving vehicle in rural northeast Nebraska.

According to a release, at around 9:41PM on Sunday, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Norfolk Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the area of 845 Road and 549 Avenue on the report of an injured person who had jumped from a moving vehicle.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and provided life-saving measures before transporting the injured person to Faith Regional Health Services.

The injured person, identified as 22-year-old Jayden Sporleder of Pierce, later died from injuries sustained in the incident.

The driver of the vehicle stated that Sporleder jumped out of the front passenger door of the pickup truck while it was moving forward at nearly 60 miles per hour.

Sporleder then apparently fell under the vehicle and was struck by the pickup truck.

Alcohol was believed to be a contributing factor to the incident however the driver was not believed to be driving under the influence.

There is no indication of foul play at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff Office.
