Mary Neiman, 75, of West Point, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point. Funeral Service will be 10:30am, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Rev. John Gierke officiating. Cremation will take place after the service and burial at Mount Hope Cemetery will be at a later date. Lunch will be in the church hall following the funeral. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00pm to 7:00pm with family receiving friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Mary Neiman was born on April 28, 1948 to Niel and Irene (Stuckenschmidt) Heyne in Pender. She was baptized at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at rural Bancroft. After attending school at Pender and West Point High School, she later earned her GED. On December 27, 1964, she married Ron Neiman at Zion Lutheran Church.
Mary’s journey through life was marked by a commitment to family, hard work, and a selfless dedication to others. Over the years, Mary held various jobs, contributing to her community and family. She worked at Wimmer’s Meat Products for over 20 years, followed by another 20 years at Franciscan Healthcare. Her work ethic extended to Graybeal’s Bakery, Subway, and Super 8.
Mary’s culinary skills were legendary, and she was known for her exceptional cooking and baking. Her family was the fortunate recipient of her delicious meals, and her grandchildren were especially fond of the chocolate chip cookies and cherry pies she lovingly baked for them. She found joy in playing cards with her family and long-time card club, participating in Relay for Life and Reach for Recovery, and attending all her grandchildren’s numerous activities.
A pillar of strength and support, Mary was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her Sunday afternoons were filled with cherished trips to “second service” alongside Ron and Jim.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Neiman;
Daughter, Sheri (Dann) Leffler of West Point and their children
Jamie (Willie) Johnson – Preston (fiancé Natalie), Creighton, Pierce, and Breck
Zachary (Kayla) – River and Ryker
Ryan (Jessica) – Adi, Garrison, and Tarot
Son, Bryan of West Point and his children, Isaac and Grace
Daughter, Traci (Joe) Butt of Lincoln and their children Garrett and Grant
And one great great grandson on the way.
Brother-in-law, Jim Reimers of West Point, many nieces and nephews, and several friends who were near and dear to her heart.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, infant grandchildren Gabriel and Faith Neiman; siblings Carol Reimers, Sharon (LeRoy) Albus, and Warren Heyne; nephews, Mike Reimers, Chris Albus, and Bruce Heyne; and best friend Carol Lierman.
