Lucille Stenwall, age 87, of Emerson, Nebraska passed away November 15, 2020 at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson. Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE, with Pastor Charlotte Eversoll officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.
Lucille was born on February 2, 1933, to Phillip and Verna (Gotch) Sorensen. Lucille graduated from Waterbury High School in 1951. She attended Wayne State College and graduated in 1953, with a teaching degree and taught at country schools for several years. Lucille married Leonard Stenwall on July 15, 1953. Together the couple raised three loving children, Linda, Phillip, and Robert.
Lucille worked at Emerson Lockers and the Little Store for several years before going to work for Emerson-Hubbard High School for 26 years. Lucille was a friend to everyone she met, and a shoulder to cry on for the students through her years at the school. Lucille had a way to sit by a family member or friend and give a little squeeze on the inner thigh to show her affection and acceptance with her little tease squeeze. Lucille was a strong, caring, and loving person, who never really showed her pain even in the worst of times. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mother-in-law.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Linda (Tom) Renz of Thurston; sons, Phillip Stenwall of Placentia, CA, Robert (Theresa) Stenwall of Placentia, CA; 7 grand kids, Amy (Adam) Manoucheri, Jason Renz, Jeremy (Kari) Renz, Bobby Stenwall, Ashleigh Stenwall, Antoney Stenwall, Rosalie Stenwall; 5 great grand kids, Hannah Renz, Rylee Renz, Cash Renz, Ella Manoucheri, Liam Manoucheri; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Sorensen of Corona, CA, Carol Valvo of Westminister, CO, Evelyn Heber of Denver, CO, Judy Stenwall Garfinkel of Rapid City, SD.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard who passed away in 1981; brothers, Irwin, Jack; sister, Evelyn; brothers-in-law, David Stenwall, Ken Stenwall, Hugh Dunn; sister-in-law, Clara Stenwall; in-laws, Lee and Elsie Stenwall.
