Duane Pagels, 87, of Beemer

Duane Pagels age 87 of Beemer, NE  passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at his home.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Beemer, NE with Pastor Robert Mayes officiating. Interment and Military Honors will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Beemer American Legion Hall. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Duane Walter Pagels was born February 27, 1936 to Walter and Viola (Ott) Pagels on the family farm, rural Beemer, NE.  He was baptized on March 22, 1936 by Rev. Carl Hellmann and later confirmed on April 20, 1950 by Rev. TH Hilgendorf at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Beemer, NE.  Duane attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School.

Duane helped on the family farm until serving in the United States Navy from December 7, 1955 until his honorable discharge on September 7, 1957.  He returned to Beemer and delivered feed for the Farmer’s Elevator in Beemer, NE.  He later took over the family farming operation.

On August 1, 1982, he was united in marriage to Susan Meyer at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft, NE.

Duane was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed baseball, playing for the Rock Creek Baseball Team and watching the Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Dodgers.  He was a Husker football fan and enjoyed dancing and playing golf.

Son-Devon Pagels of Beemer, NE and sons-Quentin and Izzac

Sister-LaVern Hoogner of Blair, NE

Brother-Gerald and Kathy Pagels of Beemer, NE

Brother-in-law-Gregory and Diane Meyer of Elm Grove, WI

Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents-Walter and Viola Pagels, sister-Marlene Kudlac and brother-in-law-Lanny Hoogner.
