Betty J. Homes, 93 years, of Oakland, Nebraska passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Oakland Heights in Oakland, NE. Funeral service will be on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland with burial in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials to the family to be designated. Arrangements by Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland.
Betty Jean (White) Homes passed away September 15, 2022, peacefully at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska. Betty was born December 17, 1928, to Herman and Helen (Schwinck) White in West Point, Nebraska.
Betty graduated from West Point High School. Betty married Lloyd Homes on October 17th, 1950. She was a teacher at Country schools around the West Point, Scribner, and Oakland areas. Betty and Lloyd had one son, Tom Lloyd Homes born March 24, 1952.
Betty was very active around the Oakland area. She taught Sunday school in Oakland. She was also a part of many clubs including the Society Garden Club and Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening with Lloyd, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and decorating for every holiday.
Betty survived by her sister, Bonnie Bohling of West Point, NE; son, Tom (Sharon) Homes of Scribner, NE; grandchildren: Doug Homes of Wynot, NE, Mike Homes of Scribner, Jenny Wolfgram of Fremont, NE; great grandchildren: Chauncey Homes of Las Vegas, NV, Dylan (Daria) Wolfgram of West Point, and Sydney Wolfgram of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Homes (2008); parents: Helen and Herman White; her 3 brothers; 1 sister; great-granddaughter, Ariana Wolfgram (2022); and many cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.
