Individuals from all across the Midwest come to Vala’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard located near Gretna, Nebraska each year.
Agricultural Manager Vaughn Hammond gave a behind-the-scenes glimpse of ag production within the pumpkin patch and apple orchard.
Throughout the year at Vala’s, the operation grows several crops, including pumpkins, corn, and soybeans that are on a three-year rotation. In addition, Vala’s features an apple orchard and you-pick flowers.
Hammond said it’s their mission at Vala’s to “create a family experience through agriculture.”
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard will officially open Labor Day weekend with the apple festival. The operation will be open through the end of October.
