Bertrand farmer begins his 2nd year of farming after college | 2022 Fridays in the Field | Ep. 5

June 3rd, 2022

Bertrand native Creighton Peterson is beginning his journey of farming full time after college.

Peterson graduated from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in May 2021, but he started farming three years ago when he picked up some of his first ground.

Peterson farms with his dad and two brothers on Peterson & Sons Farm.

Last year, Peterson took part in the National Corn Growers Association Yield Contest. In the Strip-Till, Minimum-Till, Mulch-Till, Ridge-Till Irrigated Class, Peterson placed third nationally with a yield of 347.9264 bushels per acre.

So far this year, Peterson said the first half of planting was a struggle. They had to put ½ – ¾ inch of water on the fields before they could even plant.

In this year’s season of Fridays in the Field, Clay Patton will follow along with Peterson to learn more about his operation.
