York, Neb. — A York man faces charges following a pursuit that ended with a crash into a mailbox. A deputy with the York County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop Friday at 9:10 p.m. on a sedan on West 25th Street near N. Division Avenue in York, but the driver of the vehicle failed to yield and sped away at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit was initiated in which the vehicle fled southbound on S. Lincoln Avenue from West 25th Street and then turned westbound onto West 19th Street.

At the intersection of West 19th Street and N. Division Avenue, the vehicle lost control and struck a mailbox along with a phone line box.

The driver of the vehicle, 20 year old Gavin Prince of York, was then taken into custody without further incident.

Prince was arrested on several charges including suspicion of operating a vehicle to avoid arrest.
