Minden- It has been a great start to the season for the Minden volleyball squad. The Whippets are off to a 16-0 start which is one of the best starts in school history. Minden claimed the championship at the Gothenburg Harvest Festival tournament last weekend. KRVN’s Jayson Jorgensen spoke with coach Julie Ratka about the strong start to the season.
Minden already has impressive wins this season over York, Kearney Catholic, Gothenburg, Nebraska Christian and Shelton. All of those teams are ranked in their respective classes. They also beat Phillipsburg who is 7-1 this season. Leading the way for Minden is sophomore Mattie Kamery who has 143 kills and 334 assists, freshman Myla Emery who has 86 kills and 164 assists and senior Sloan Beck who has 65 kills. As a team Minden is hitting 281 and also has 102 aces this year. The Whippets are ranked 2nd in Class C-1 this week by the Omaha World Herald.
