Omaha — A widely known Omaha criminal defense attorney has died. According to family, James Martin Davis, 75, had a heart attack Monday while involved in a court hearing in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was airlifted to Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. Davis passed away Monday afternoon according to his family. Davis was associated with difficult, high profile criminal cases in Omaha and central Nebraska. Davis was known for his outgoing and straightforward demeanor coupled with keen legal skills. Many in the Omaha legal community say Davis was a ‘game changer.’
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus.
