Well-known auctioneer Robin W. Marshall passes, services announced

Kearney, Neb. — Well-known auctioneer and philanthropist Robin W. Marshall, age 86, of Kearney passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Left to grieve are Judy, his wife, and all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robin served as president of the National Auctioneers Association in 1995-96. He also served as president of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association. He was inducted into the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2002 and into the Nebraska Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2003.

Robin’s auctioneering career spanned over 65 years conducting thousands of auctions. He started his career working for his father at the Kearney Livestock Auction Market. Robin and his brother Eugene purchased the livestock market from their father’s estate and operated the market for 16 years. Robin continued his auction career operating Marshall Land Brokers & Auctioneers with his son, Miles. The company specializes in agriculture land and equipment sales. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Marshall Equipment Auction held at the fairgrounds, one of Nebraska’s largest equipment auctions.

A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Joe Hannappel will celebrate and burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 6:00 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation, Crossroads Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
