ARAPAHOE – The 7-0 Arapahoe football team successfully connected on a 54-yard free kick in their 51-12 win over Hi-Line, making Alex Diaz this week’s prep spotlight.
A free kick is allowed when a team makes a fair catch, and is allowed to attempt a field goal from that spot in a kickoff formation. Diaz successfully hit it from 54 yards out, bouncing off the upright and through as part of the big win. Diaz has been quite the weapon for Arapahoe this season, with 58 total kickoffs, 51 of those going as touchbacks to not allow the other team a chance to return. Diaz is 20-24 on PAT’s as well this season. On defense, he has eight tackles and also has two touchdown receptions on 66 yards on offense this season.

Arapahoe is 7-0, and will take on 6-1 North Platte St. Patrick’s to wrap up the regular season on Thursday.
