Holdrege, Neb. — Update: Seat belts were in use and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in a two-vehicle collision in Holdrege that resulted in the death of one person.

That’s according to an update from Phelps County Attorney Natalie Nelsen-Pacey as an investigation continues. Sandra Monthey, 81, of Republican City was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash which was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, on Highway 183 and South East Avenue, located on the south side of Holdrege.

Holdrege Police Department determined from its investigation that a passenger car, driven by Sandra Monthey, had proceeded onto Highway 183 in front of a pickup with a trailer when the collision occurred.

The driver of the pickup, Garland Snow, 70, of Kearney, was transported to Phelps Memorial Health Center.
