UNK swimming wraps up the season

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers tallied 183 points to finish in eighth place at the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships Saturday night in Grand Junction, Colo.

The five-day meet began Tuesday night and was hosted by Colorado Mesa at the El Pomar Natatorium. The Mavericks easily won on both sides, tallying 1,221 points (women) and 1,153.50 points (men). There were six men and nine women’s squads taking part. 

Having UNK top 10 swims on Saturday were Oklahoma sophomore Miriam Finch in the 1,650-freestyle (24th/converted 19:03.10), Arizona junior Tea Oltjenbruns (21st/converted 2:15.27) and Kansas sophomore Gabby Grace (24th/converted 2:17.09) in the 200-backstroke with Colorado junior Karley Bennett leading in the 200-breaststroke (21st/converted 2:32.59) and Norfolk sophomore Maggie Waddington tops in the 100-free (21st/54.30). Finally, the 400-free relay team finished eighth (3:39.75) and included Grace, Waddington, Oltjenbruns and Oklahoma junior Makayla Seal.

UNK had three seniors on the 2023-24 squad in Macy Mollring (Elkhorn), Emily Miksch (Columbus) and Katie Cornelio (Monument, Colo.).
